Are You Self-Sabotaging Your Writing Career?

Do you want a writing career?
I’m serious. Do you REALLY want a writing career? If your answer is, “yes,” then the next question is, “what are you doing about it?”
When I first decided I wanted to be a freelance writer, I spent months researching the markets, identifying editors, writing query letters, carefully crafting articles, and assembling tips sheets.
I didn’t receive one single acceptance notice…
…because I never sent any of those queries, articles or tips sheets out for anyone to read.
I don’t know if it was due to a fear of failure or fear of success. If I failed, my life wouldn’t change. If I succeeded, it would. I had to decide which one of these was more frightening and acknowledge that I was self-sabotaging my dreams of having a writing career.
When I was finally willing to accept rejection, I became a REAL writer. I made mistakes and received plenty of rejections but, eventually, I started getting good – then great – assignments.
If you do nothing, you get nothing. If you really want a writing career, stop sabotaging your efforts and take action… today.
