In a previous post, I suggested that you could increase your credibility with potential clients by turning your promotional brochure into an authored book.

A few of you emailed me, saying you liked the idea but that you doubted you have enough content for a 60-page book.

No problem!

Scale back the concept of writing a book to one of writing a booklet, perhaps 16 pages long and in a size that fits into a business envelope. You will still gain more credibility with a booklet than you will with a brochure. Just like the book, remember to:

1. Choose an attention-getting title.

2. Relate the information to your own expertise.

3. Proofread your work!

4. Identify potential clients.

5. Get specific contact names at potential client businesses.

6. Order your booklets—a local quick print shop should be able to print them for you at a reasonable cost.

7. Send out your booklets.

You can also carry a small supply of your booklet with you to hand out to people you meet at networking events or “right place at the right time” encounters.
